Shri Vidya Guru Shri Devibaa

Jai Bahuchar Jai Gurudev my fellow Sadhakas,

On the 8th day of my Guru mantra Anusthan, I would like to introduce the rare jewel of my Guru Mandal (Circle of Gurus) who dissolved herself in, nurtured and spread the Shri Vidya Reet until 2009. This my tribute to the entire Guru Mandal.

Shri Devibaa was  the Guru of Shri Vidya Kashi Pashupat Parampara, who started to spread the Vidya (knowledge) to the worthy ones across the Gujarat and overseas specially Africa, UK. USA and Australia. She is my Param Guru (My Guru’s Guru) and She and her husband Param Pujya Shri Shivguruji established Raj Rajeshwari Peeth (Shri Vidya learning) Peeth in Kadi, North Gujarat which has turned into Kadamb Van of Shri upasakas of Shri Vidya Pashupat Parampara.

Param Pujya Shri Devibaa and Param Pujya Shri ShivGuruji were main disciples of Shri Devshankar Trivedi (Shri Devshankar Dada/).

Param Pujya Shri DeviBa was born on Magsar Shudh Beej on 3/12/1929.

Little is known about her parents as they passed away at an early age. Ba’s maternal aunt and uncle bought her up. From a very young age, it was obvious that she was an extraordinary girl. Even at this tender age, Param Pujya Baa showed an immense passion towards spirituality.

From a very early age, Shri Devi Ba showed signs of a deep yearning for spirituality and She would eventually become a modern day Saint of the highest degree. Fondly known as Ba, She would spend most of her time in puja, path, organising satsangs and serving sadhu sants from a very early age.

She married Shri ShivGuruji on 11/05/43 and they spent the rest of their lives in Kadi, North Gujarat. Both were initiated into Shri Vidya and their hard work, anustaans and upasna directed them towards obtaining Purnabhasheka by Guru Shri Devshankar Shastry, Rajuguru of Sanand State, Gujarat. They were a perfect example to mankind of an ideal yugal damapati.  Both forever immersed in the Divine light of Sri Vidya.

On meeting Param Pujya Ganpatram Guruji, She was asked to be given diksha. Humbly Ba replied that she is not ready yet, most people would have accepted mantra diksha with glee, however this showed her humble and selfless nature.

Later she was given Mantra Updesh and Purnabhishek by Shri Dev Shankar Trivedi – himself a direct shisya of Shri Ganpatram Guruji. Ba’s Guru bhakti was unparalleled, she embodied the qualities of a perfect shishya. Day by day she became more engrossed in nitya pujan (daily pujan) along with balancing her married life, duties to her extended family and her children. Ba lived in a very orthodox household and would finish her nitya archan early morning and before completing her household duties. Shri Devi Baa and Shri Shiv Guruji going to do pujan of  Shri Devshankar Dada before travelling to UK.

Having a perfect balance of family and spiritual life, Ba set a excellent example of how upasna should be carried out for house holders and how to integrate it for every day, without neglecting our samsaric duties.

In the mid 1970’s Ba took an oath to perform 1 koti japas of the Shri Vidya mantra, whilst standing in the river Narmada waist deep in the water.

She lived in a hut on the banks of the river at Malsar for 3 and a half years to successfully complete her tapasya. The hut where she stayed was in the midst of wild animals and fearsome Aghoris.  After this intense tapasya, Ba did not want to come back and spend the remainder of her days in deep sadhana.

Whilst in the waters of the Narmada River, she received Divine Darshan, Devi came to her and recited the verse and name of Shri Lalita Tripursundari – Name 880. “Samsara panga nirmagna samuddharana panditha” Stuck in the mud of samsara she needed to become like a lotus. Unscathed by the mud, she should flower in her upasna and share the glory of this wonderful upasna of Sri Vidya to the world.

Param Pujya Shri Dev Shankar Trivedi (Ba’s Guru) also instructed Ba not ignore society and spread the divine Shri Vidya to the worthy, to guide people in this Sacred path and continue the Shri Vidya Pashu Pat Parampara lineage. Respecting her Gurujl’s wish Ba settled in Kadi and set up the Raj Rajeshwari Pitham in the late 70’s and started guiding sadhakas on this royal path of Shri Vidya.

With the support of Shri Shivguruji they both became the a ideal yugal dampati.- epitomy of the Divine Couple – Kameshwar and Kameshwari.

They were graced with three children, the eldest being Shri Kirit Bhai, Shri Urvarshi Ben and Shri Nita Ben. All three have achieved Purnabhashika in their own right. As a stula form of Kameshwar Kameshwari, hundreds of disciples have been initiated in the Shri Vidya tradition. Guruji initiated many shisyas in India and around the world and is considered to be one of the first pioneers to spread trueShri Vidya abroad.

The great tradition and lineage is kept alive today by their daughter Param Pujya Shri Urvarshi Ben who is the Peethadhipati of Shri Raj Rajeswari Peetham Kadi, Gujarat.

Param Pujya Shree DeviBa left for Manidweepam on 19/12/2009. It is felt that Shri DeviBa’s Tatva went to Manidweepam but it appears that her Devi Tatva is dissolved into her daughters who are as Matamayi as Shri Devi Ba.
